We are frequently discussing specifications for new projects and equipment customisation. Although you may know us only for our standard Smart-binder product range, behind this is a large amount of engineering and product application experience (based at our UK head office) in providing special binding solutions.

Increasingly our new sales involve customisation and additional product functionality to our products. Some special features are then subsequently introduced as standard options so that IBIS systems are constantly evolving and improving. This ability to tailor our machinery to meet our customer’s special requirements is one of our key strengths.

The following list shows some of the specially-designed features and options which we have delivered to our customers around the world during the last year:

• The ability to connect in-line to every type of digital printer (including, recently to Oce and Xerox cut sheet printers).

• The introduction of various cross folds and rotators to handle very light paper weights and a large range of end-format sizes.

• The delivery of finished booklets from our SB system directly into an in-line connected mailing (inserting) line.

• Variable booklet trim on-the-fly.

• 2-D bar code reading for enhanced security and booklet integrity.

• Dynamic micro perforation– on any page within the book.

• Gluing and wire stitching on the same machine with very fast changeover between the two modes.

• The provision of off-line and near-line feeding capability.

• Spine squaring

• Customised trimming operations.

• In-line compensated booklet stacking

• In-line perfect binding, using ‘cold glued’ signatures.
