'Smart' move for IOS

IOS's facility in Dagenham, London, UK, recently installed an IBIS Smart-binder SB-3. The Smart-binder is used to produce variable-data personalized booklets of up to 200 pages. The Dagenham system also features a cover feeder with integrated barcode reader, which allows barcodes on the sheets and covers to be matched for added personalization.

The Smart-binder SB-3 can bind booklets using either wire stitches, or IBIS unique ISG cold-gluing system which uses a cold glue to individually glue booklet sheets to each other. ISG cold-glue permits the Smart-binder to continuously produce a booklets with varying page counts without stopping for any adjustment. IOS Smart-binder is fed from a high-pile sheet feeder equipped with a trolley sheet loading system. The sheet feeder allows IOS to manufacture booklets using any of the digital colour printers that they have, while the trolley system allows very fast re-loading of the sheet feeder.

IOS has been pleased with the purchase.
