IBIS/Canon/Hunkeler booklet production system at the Hunkeler 'Innovation Days' show, Luzern, Feb 2015

If you were one of the thousands of visitors to Hunkeler Innovation Days, then we hope you enjoyed the show.

Our Smart-binder SB-3 ‘Plus HS’ saddle-binding system was exhibited on the Canon stand in-line with our new ‘Smart-buffer’ module, a Hunkeler web cutter and a Canon Océ Colorstream 3000Z web printer running at 100 m/min web speed.

Large quantities of high quality colour booklets were produced during the 4-day show. These varied continually between:

  • 16 page direct marketing brochures (every brochure different from the next),
  • 28 page children’s colouring book,
  • 40 page marketing brochure and
  • 104 page IBIS Smart-binder product guides.

At the end of each day 2000 ‘Paper Report’ magazines (20 pages) were produced ready for distribution to visitors when they arrived the following morning.

Binding of all booklets was varied continually between wire stitches and IBIS’s unique and patented ISG cold-glue binding system.

Of additional interest to our many visitors was the new IBIS ‘Smart-buffer’ which accumulated and stored the printed sheets from the web cutter, before feeding them on demand into the Smart-binder - thereby providing a ‘soft coupling’ between the finishing system and the printer.

We were also pleased to show the new IBIS ‘Dynamic Stitching’ system in operation. This automatically adjusts the thickness of each staple to suit the book being stitched.

The IBIS Smart-binder will next be exhibited at the Print China show (April 7-12) in Dongguan (MBO stand 3C1007-2).

If you didn’t manage to see us at the show and have an upcoming requirement, please do let us know - we look forward to hearing from all existing and potential new customers. Our order book is fast filling up for 2015!
