Cover Feed Bar Code Reader BCR-100

Back

The optional cover feed bar code reader BCR-100 reads an ID code printed on the upper side of the cover, towards the leading edge of the cover. The normal bar code used is IRF (Interleaved 2 or 5) but other types of bar code formats may also be used (refer to IBIS for details) . The cover sheet is fed a short distance from the bottom of the pile where it then stops and the code is read. If the ID number in this code matches the ID number read on the inside sheets, then the cover is fed into the Smart-binder folder. If there is an ID number mismatch then the Smart-binder will stop and the control screen will show that there has been a cover mismatch. The operator must then regain correct cover sequence before restarting the machine.

Instead of a bar code reader, the cover feeder may alternatively be fitted with a 2D Datamatrix code reader (option BCR-102).

It is recommended that instead of covers being individually personalized, they are non-personalized but include a ‘cut-out window’ which allows personalised details printed on the first page of the inside sheets to be visible from the outside of the book..
