| Smart-binder Saddle binding:
The Smart-binder system using individual
sheet folding before collection together on the saddle, which
results in excellent lay-flat even up to 200 pages. The Smart-binder
may be supplied in-line with a digital cut-sheet printer (SB-1
model) or in-line with a digitally-printed CF paper web(SB-2,3
or 4) at speeds up to 150 metres/min (500 feet/min). Alternatively,
it may be supplied in off-line form using an integrated sheet
pile feeder which can be loaded with sheets from multiple
digital printers.

The
Smart-binder SB-1 and SB-2 produce wire stitched booklets up
to 10mm (0.4") thick. By upgrading to the model SB-3 the
system can also produce ISG cold glued booklets up to this same
thickness. Using IBIS's unique cold-glue binding process offers
many benefits compared with wire staples. For square-backed
books between 10 and 60mm (0.4" and 2.3"), the SB-3
may be upgraded to the model SB-4, which includes an in-line
hot-melt adhesive binder.
In this way the Smart-binder provides a solution for multiple
different book types and formats, with the option of a separately
fed cover, sheet perforating, hole punching, loop stitching,
etc. |

| The Smart-binder range also includes
options for dedicated ‘perfect binding’ (without saddle-binding)
for books up to 60mm (2.3” ) thick. The Smart-binder model PB-600S
can receive piles of sheets from an in-line sheet-stacker and place
these piles automatically into the BB3002 single clamp binder. |

| Alternatively, the Smart-binder model
PB600C includes a sheet collector to enable it to receive a stream
of sheets directly from a digital printer, or high speed sheet feeder.
It folds each sheet, if needed, collects the sheets together and then
places the sheet pile into the BB3002 single clamp binder. The BB3002
binder uses hot-melt EVA glue to bind the sheets and add a separately
fed cover to produce high quality perfect bound books, and book thickness
may be varied on-the-run. An optional in-line 3-side book trimmer
is available. |
