Digital continues to grow at Graph Expo

For those of you observing the growth of the Oce, Xerox, HP, Kodak, and IBM (Infoprint Solutions) booths at Graph Expo over the years, it’s official . Digital print technology accounted for 55% of the floor space at this year's show, displacing offset as the “key” print technology.

Over the last five years, digital printing has secured major positions well beyond short-run and variable data. Digital is now entrenched in Point-Of-Purchase applications, flexible packaging, label production, photo books, newspapers, and more. As the technology continues to evolve, digital’s share versus offset will only continue to grow.

We are pleased to report a successful show for IBIS in Chicago last week. Smart-binder SB-3 systems were exhibited with two of our US partners, CP Bourg Inc., and Océ-USA.

The Smart-binder on the CB Bourg booth was fed from a Lasermax unwinder and cutter and produced very thick (7- 8mm) saddle-stitched books.

On the Océ booth the SB-3 ran in-line with a VarioStream 8750 printer and Hunkeler cutter, producing many 1000s of our latest version SB Application Guides, using both ISG cold glue binding and wire staples, some with glossy covers. This Application Guide (Rev 16) is available for download at:

ibis-bindery.com/downloads.htm

and hard copy samples of this booklet produced during Graph Expo are available on request.

We also took a short video of the Smart-binder on the Océ booth, which can be viewed below or,

https://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=oK8BglwvWps or at our download page on our web site.

We enjoyed a prominent position on the front corner of the Océ booth, close to the entrance. Customer attendance on both stands was good, resulting in many enquires.

CP Bourg sold the SB-3 directly from their booth to a US customer (their second Smart-binder system) for installation this week.

Demand for the Smart-binder system has increased throughout this year, giving us an order backlog into 2009, and enabling us to increase product build rates.

Yours sincerely
