- Is ink jet (IJ) printing required on the outside of each booklet (student personalization)? Ink-jet print heads may be provided to print onto the front cover of each booklet if needed (see Solution B).
Note: This may be a preferable way to personalize a booklet front cover (with a student’s personal details for example) compared with using the web printer. The reason is that if a personalized booklet is rejected (or lost for any reason) in the printer, web cutter or Smart-binder, then this booklet needs to be reprinted. However if all the booklets within a job are the same (within each job run) when they are saddle-stitched, then it may not matter if some booklets are rejected because IJ personalization can be applied to the front cover after each booklet is delivered from the Smart-binder and before wrapping.
- Does a separately printed answer-sheet need to be added (loose) to each question booklet after the booklet has been produced by the IBIS Smart-binder?
Note: If the answer-sheet is not printed by the web printer and included as part of the question booklet (stitched in with perforation to allow removal), then we can offer to feed this answer-sheet separately and add it to each question booklet after the question booklet is delivered by the Smart-binder. That answer sheet may be added loose with the stitched (or glued) question booklet, in which case each booklet + answer sheet must be wrapped together before stacking into piles (see Solution B attached). Alternatively, if the answer sheet is about 5mm smaller on each edge compared with the question booklet, then it may be automatically inserted under the front cover which means that the question booklet (with answer sheet inside) may not then require wrapping prior to be stacked into piles
- Do the booklets needed double polythene-wrapping for additional security, or is a single polythene wrap sufficient?
Note: Solution B will always offer double wrapping. However if a loose answer-sheet is not required, or if the answer sheet is inserted under the front cover of the question booklet, then the stitched (or glued) question-booklets do not require wrapping before they are stacked into piles. These piles are then banded , flow wrapped (auto –bagged) and labelled (see Solution A attached). After this the piles may be polythene-wrapped a second time if needed for extra security. The second wrapping process uses an L-sealer with a heat shrink tunnel.
